Waste of word count. Why is there a "Life" hotline that someone can call to set up a meeting with "Life" and figure out why theirs is such a mess?

Why is Lucy's family unsurprised that "Life" has set up an appointment with her? How does he know so much about her? Why isn't this creepy AF to her?

But I don't care enough to wait it out. The fact that this plot is so bizarre is enough to make me say "nothing you write now will make this better for me".

I haven't read Cecilia Ahern in years, and I liked the two books of hers that I'd previously read. I'm finding that it's a chore to turn on my audiobook, so I'm done.

I hate when that happens. But time to move on. I was initially sceptical when I picked up this book as I wasn't that crazy about PS I love you, however I really loved this book!

I found it to be both heart-warming and uplifting. Initially, I didn't like Lucy, however as I warmed to the theme of the story I really warmed to Lucy- she is a bit of a lost and lonely soul struggling to come to terms with the downward turn her life has taken over the last couple of years.

But she is so in denial about being miserably stuck in a rut, she doesn't co I was initially sceptical when I picked up this book as I wasn't that crazy about PS I love you, however I really loved this book!

But she is so in denial about being miserably stuck in a rut, she doesn't consciously realise it- that is, until her Life, who in Ahern's book is an actual human being, comes knocking to request a meeting with her.

I found it touching as Lucy and her Life come to terms with her past, as Lucy admits to the lies she has told to cover her failures, as she faces the ex boyfriend who dumped her and left her heartbroken and as she learns to face her life again and to truly love it.

All this is done with great humour and avoiding over the top sentimentality, which I thought was very well-done.

The only thing I would say is- why does Lucy agree to the lie about her boyfriend? I still can't really accept the explanation Ahern offers, even when I decided to just suspend my annoyance for the sake of enjoying the ending of the book, it still niggled at me a bit.

Other than that it is a fun read, with some really likeable characters and by the end I didn't want it to finish as I felt I was saying goodbye to some good friends!

The story follows Lucy, who got into turmoil with her own life. She was mildly successful and in a happy relationship with a lot of friends.

But after her break up, she lost her job, moved flats and has some difficulties maintaining her relationships friends- and family-wise.

So, to get her on the right track, her life steps in: a man who is not really attractive, not really dapper and definitely not friendly.

I enjoyed this piece of work. I got into the story really quickly compared to the la The story follows Lucy, who got into turmoil with her own life.

I got into the story really quickly compared to the last book I have read from her and I like the characters. Funnily the story comes in handy with my own life, I would love for it to appear in front of me and give me guidance.

You can get lost so easily with everything and for people who quickly give up on life and just exist- oh it would be great to have life appear in flesh before you.

The story really is for everyone who just wants his mind to get off of life, it's not too deep or too into details with the plot or the characters.

But you'll like it nonetheless :! It is the story of Lucy Silchester, who returns from work one day to find an invitation to a meeting with her Life.

From the back: It sounds peculiar, but Lucy's read about this in a magazine. Anyway, she can't make the date: she's much too busy despising her job, skipping out on her friends and avoiding her family.

But Lucy's life isn't what it seems. Some of the choices she's made - and stories she's told - aren't what they seem either.

From the moment she meets the man who introduces himself as her life, her stubborn half-truths are going to be revealed in all their glory - unless she learns to tell the truth about what really matters to her.

How are you treating your life? Your Life won't interrupt you - unless you need a bit of an intervention.

Whatever is going on with you will show up on your Life - if you aren't treating yourself right, your Life will look sickly, smell and wear crumpled clothes, and similarly once you begin to take care of yourself your Life will begin to look better as well.

Your hopes and dreams? What "little lies" are you telling? A huge part of Lucy's story is that she told one lie, which let to another and yet another, until her life is tied up in one big knot and she's shut herself off from her friends and family.

What white lies are you telling others? And that's a reminder we all need every now and then. As long as you're around, your life is too.

Mine didn't. And we'll be there for each other until those final moments when we will look at each other and say, 'Thanks for staying until the end.

How are you treating your life and yourself? Do you read chick-lit, or what kind of books do you prefer? As usual I received this book because of some random giveaway or other so I didn't pay even a farthing for it.

Unfortunately I don't recall exactly which giveaway because it's been festering at the bottom of my pile for quite some time. Despite that I give my candid opinions below.

This book was a real perplexity for me. I spent the majority of the text trying to figure out if th As usual I received this book because of some random giveaway or other so I didn't pay even a farthing for it.

I spent the majority of the text trying to figure out if the central figure of "Life" as described in the back-cover description was an actual physical person or a metaphor for human existence.

Unfortunately, even after pages I still don't really know for sure. This book has a property that I've not found in a title for quite some time.

I consider myself a fairly attentive and avid reader but it's seldom that a book makes me late to work and then late to bed and generally takes over my life.

For the few days it took to finish it I did little else but read this book and find ways to compress my other daily duties to accommodate more time for it.

I learned during this period just the perfect way to balance a bowl of morning cereal while reading. The only problem with all this is that I'm not actually entirely sure why it was such a fascinating book.

At least in part the ambiguity of one of the main characters has a role to play in this miniature obsession.

I love nothing more than a good mystery to be unraveled and even now I'm left rather unsatisfied and confused on this topic.

It's also, perhaps, because I can relate to the main character. She shuts herself off from others with lies and keeps the world at a distance.

This resonates with me personally but my weapon of choice is humor and deflection. Books are often very personal and in many ways this one was a mirror.

At times a terrifying mirror, but a mirror nonetheless. In summary, I was utterly enthralled by this book. At least to some extent probably irrationally because I've failed to understand the concept of "Life Audits" that may be commonplace in Ireland, but still the fact remains that this book really roped me in.

Lucy's life fell apart when she left her nearly perfect boyfriend 3 years ago. She didn't leave him. He dumped her.

She quit her good-paying job that she enjoyed. She didn't quit. She got fired. She lives in a cozy apartment that she loves.

She has to leave social events early because she has other things to do. Did I mention that Lucy's life fell apart when she left her nearly perfect boyfriend 3 years ago.

Did I mention that Lucy lies or tells half-truths? It is time for Lucy to pay more attention to her life. In fact, her life has been sending her letters and phoning her to make an appointment to discuss the matter.

Her life wants to sit down with her and devise a plan to get her back on track. When Lucy finally and reluctantly does meet her life, she gets quite a shock.

Her life is a rumpled, unattractive man with unkempt hair, bad breath, and skin problems. Seems that one's life doesn't have to be one's gender.

For lack of better ideas, Lucy names her life Cosmo to explain his sudden appearance at her work, her apartment, her social gatherings I loved this story.

It was, yes, about a broken romance; but it was so much more than that. It was about looking at ourselves and the choices we make. It was about being honest, not just to others, but to ourselves.

It was about "not settling" just because it is easier. This book made me laugh. Cosmo is a hoot. Lucy is loveable in spite of all the disruptions she causes.

Underneath it all, there are moments of sadness as well that help to explain Lucy's actions. And it made me think about how many times we lose ourselves as we get caught up into so many life situations that we actually do forget to pay attention to, yes, "our life".

Amazing book. I'll be back with a review. I love books by Cecelia Ahern, although I always love them I never quite know what to expect next with her books!

I have to say the cover to this book is stunning and in my opinion is the best cover of all the Cecelia Ahern books.

Plot Lucy Silchester has received an appointment card. Her life is about to catch up with her in the most extraordinary of ways My Opinion Our heroine in this book is Lucy Silchester and she is a likeable character who is very down to earth which makes her character easy to read.

Lucy finally meets Life who is a man and although I can honestly say I have never read a character like Life before he is a joy to read.

I was expecting Life to be very God or angle like so when we meet a bog standard grumpy guy I was a little shocked!

There were many laugh out loud moments in this novel which made it an enjoyable read and very hard to put down. I feel like the storyline carries a message and really gets you thinking, are you making the most of your life and doing things you enjoy?

This book is a must for Cecelia Ahern fans, and does not disappoint. The novel has a great mix of characters who work well together in this book.

The novel will give you a very unique storyline which will have you gripped and guessing as to what will happen next all the way through.

A truly quirky read! This was such a delicious mindfuck of a book, and so very heartrending at the same time.

Very early on, I knew this one would hurt. And I kept waiting to feel frustration, even anger at the ways of our protagonist Which says something for the skill of Ahern, how she manages to make her protagonists so sympathetic even when they're so royally fucked up.

My heart utterly went out to Lucy, to the awful predicament she found herself in, even though I knew o This was such a delicious mindfuck of a book, and so very heartrending at the same time.

My heart utterly went out to Lucy, to the awful predicament she found herself in, even though I knew objectively that I would abhor and detest her coping mechanism.

Hell, I do in real life. But well-written fiction transcends real life, doesn't it? And it's very very true of this novel.

What I thoroughly admired was the total unreliability of our narrator's voice. In fact, right from the start I thought "My gosh, this is like Villette.

Quite the reverse. Luckily, I got her measure very quickly so it was quite easy to tell when she was outright lying to me and when she wasn't.

Except for the biggie that kept me swerving one way, then the other. But yes, the mindfuck aspect was totally unnerving and wonderfully so, the fantastic metaphor of it that kept spinning my mind out and reeling it back in and then out again.

I can see how that would frustrate so many readers. In fact, I'm surprised I wasn't. But I was just fascinated and even more fascinated, and then even longing for it to be real.

How very clever Ahern is. And omg, the Gene Kelly references! Particularly spooky cos the very day I began the novel I was going through a bit of a resurgent love, getting all fatuous and misty-eyed over certain gorgeous pictures and my favourite sequences.

For a while there, it seemed liked every pop culture reference Ahern made in this novel was targeted right at me, so closely did our interests and knowledge coincide.

Okay, this tailed off towards the end and I am a little disappointed that the Gene Kelly references sort of vanished.

But I did love the little touches of Dirty Dancing, that there was just the title and one quoted line in the narrative.

I like that Ahern restrained the Dirty Dancing concept really to the concept of our protagonist, the same sort of passive-but-not female protagonist.

Pop culture references for the win, darling. I have read every single one of Cecelia Ahern's books and I love her writing style.

I love her elements of mystery and a sort of magic. I was top of the request list at the library and it's a big list!!!

I knew I would have to read it quite fast, but knew it wouldn't be a problem. I love her books so could get it read in a couple of days.

Lucy's life has gone downhill, s I have read every single one of Cecelia Ahern's books and I love her writing style.

Lucy's life has gone downhill, she broke up with her boyfriend of five years, lost her gorgeous apartment, lost her job and got a new one that she hates where she nicknames all the staff and sneaks out for as many breaks as possible.

She spends her time trying to avoid family and friends and hides away in her box of an apartment. One day she gets an invite for a meeting with Life - her life.

It's time she stopped ignoring her life and started living it. This book was very odd - Life personified is just weird - but it's a weird that works.

I was absolutely fascinated. I liked Lucy as a character - she was sassy and had a great with. Her life is great, I actually laughed out loud so many times whilst he was talking.

This story will sweep you away but at the same time will have you thinking about your own life and where it's going. I love the strangeness of it all and it's overall originality.

Ahern charms and intrigues with her writing. I was hooked in and couldn't wait to find out what would happen.

There is a bit of a love triangle but in my opinion it's very one sided - I knew who I liked and was shouting at Lucy to be sensible and pick him I won't say who - it might spoil it for you It hasn't overtaken as my favourite one of hers but it's quite high up the list.

By that I don't mean I was intellectually challenged, but that I was challenged not to put it down and having to deal with her complaining about her life while still insisting that her life was great.

She was incredibly annoying but somehow I kept going and in the end I didn't regret it. That I enjoyed, the end was -though not brilliant or very satisfying- good enough for me to not regret battling through the boring first hundred-or-so pages.
